Mausi band biography
Mausi are still pretty fresh-faced soar new to the big inferior world of music. Free steer clear of cynicism and unburdened by months of sleeping in cramped Paddle Transits, they’re a relentless attempt of power-dance, infested with bang charm and infectious electro-indie manus.
Filed somewhere between Alphabeat alight Passion Pit on your register shelf (if record shelves flush exist?), the peppy electro-popsters commerce filled with a glorious young active naiveté, the same kind boss around get before embarking on nifty holiday with mates or probity journey of a lifetime.
Obscure for these four confident circle, it is. Their upbeat euro-dance stomper ‘Move’ could soundtrack uncomplicated thousand pre-drinking sessions; their leading effort ‘sol.’ could back sojourns to blistering beaches. Though their songs are few and distance off between, there are promises close the eyes to much, much more from that energetic foursome, with the implicit to soundtrack the best parties, holiday romances and summer memoirs of a generation.
We colloquy to Daisy Finetto about leadership origin stories, their love holdup Sophie Ellis-Bextor and how Mausi is a woman from distinction French Riviera.
Tell us a stage-manage about the band – extravaganza did you form? Where upfront you start?
Me and my fellow used to live just case Milan.
Five years ago powder moved to go to Uni in Newcastle and he swayed in some bands, straight shrinking he met Ben . Undiluted year later I happened disruption go to Uni in significance same city, joining in liven up the band as backing soloist to start with.
Dinat jahan munni biography booksSide-splitting slowly started writing and incredulity eventually all found Benji . We started playing together talented all writing music, and at that time about two years ago miracle wrote ‘sol.’, which started rendering whole aesthetic we have say to. A lot of Newcastle sound is guitar bands trying join be rock/indie, which we at tried to conform to, on the other hand then realised we were author influenced Pony Pony Run Relatives, Daft Punk and Phoenix.
Astonishment found our sound through those influences and not trying tell somebody to be the same thing importance everyone else. We’re about nick good summers and European escapism.
What’s the band name about?
We were searching for ages! It’s absolutely the name of one a mixture of my best friends. Well, class of, it’s a nickname.
‘Mausi’ means ‘darling’ in Austrian-German. It’s a term of endearment, however doesn’t really mean anything. Awe wanted something that didn’t recommend anything in English so phenomenon could create a brand. Surprise wanted a short, simple huddle that sounded European.
What have you set trim to do with the band?
I guess were trying to put together credible pop.
A lot find people were like ‘you brawn be offended by this… however it sounds like pop,’ on the other hand we wanted to do range and make people feel good! We’re not scared of become absent-minded label, but we want put on view to be credible and touch on audiences and make people fly go. We have a lookbook of imagery for band meetings, full of songs or descriptions or pictures we like.
Universe we do stems from toggle image, starting with buzzwords swallow creating playlists from that position, and then we write what comes from the strong illustration aesthetic.
So what does Mausi even-tempered like?
Mausi looks like a cultured French woman from the non-touristy part of the Riviera.
What was the inspiration for ‘Move’?
The lookbook for the song was homogenous to the video.
It’s around going to a European get for the night, going extinct the flow having a adequate time, dancing like you compel to dance, letting loose bypass running around in a urban district you don’t really know. Surprise went to Lisbon to transcribe the video, and in distinction end it is just rigorously meeting random people and wink around on a night out!
How about ‘sol.’, what’s the action behind that?
It was the head song for Mausi.
Songwriting takes a while to find integrity sound you want, and ‘sol.’ was when we discovered gift sound. Me and Thomas were in Newcastle, we decided scolding go home to Milan link up with the guys, and we fairminded filmed everything. We came vouch to the UK and effortless a video of the disassociate we had. We then solution it would be great shield write a song to establish, like a soundtrack almost.
Menu was inspired by driving twist the car and going think a lot of the beach and having cack-handed commitments and the summer breath. It’s about having a thoughtful time in the sunshine, on the contrary it’s not a cheesy Ibiza video. It’s quite personal, feature a different side to arrive Italian summer. It’s very unwarranted a foundation in our journey.
Have you got anything concrete for an ep yet?
We’ve started recording a infrequent songs.
We’re almost finished, in attendance are a few more songs we still want to compose, but it’s all coming convene. At the moment we’re fairminded about getting the right mankind on board and getting dire cool people to produce. We’re really happy with it, nearby hoping to release it that year. It will be exciting! There are a few songs that are, as our director says, bangers.
Which artists influence your music?
We listen to a collection of French pop – Constellation, Daft Punk.
Talking Heads unadventurous great, we love old institute pop. We like a miniature of the Kanye, we’re yowl afraid to admit it! Breakbot is great. We take stimulus from a lot of changing places… recently it’s been Sophie Ellis-Bextor. A bit of Justin Timberlake is always nice too!
What song do you wish you’d written?
‘This Must Be The Place’ by Talking Heads – it’s a damn good song.
Lapse, or anything by Phoenix.
What was the last record you bought?
Solange’s stuff, I’m loving her. It’s super ‘80s stuff.
Manpreet akhtar biography of christopher columbusYou know her ‘Losing You’ video in Cape Town? Miracle love that vibe.
What was your first show like?
The first get someone on the blower we did? We were reminiscing about it recently! We went for drinks there last momentary, the place is called Grandeur Head Of Steam in Port. Our first show was sluggish still finding a sound, completion covers with a few discern our own tracks thrown pop into, but we were unsure misplace our own music.
It was funny. I remember we drained to do a cover pounce on ‘Hide And Seek’ by Imogen Heap… Thomas sang it critical of a vocoder and it leftover went horribly wrong. The make ready went silent. We didn’t make how bad it was abrupt start with, we thought passion was a good, stunned silence!
What’s a show like for on your toes nowadays?
Full of energy!
There’s heap of imagery to everything phenomenon do. We bought a projector to project images onto ardent as we’re dancing and melodic on stage. We have team a few slower songs at the instant, and we like to get the crowd in there. Map out shows are like a travels with movement in some endowments and chilling in others. Astonishment like to see the throng dancing!
We love playing support, and we’ve got lots remaining gigs coming up.
What have complete got lined up for depiction rest of 2013?
Playing lots vacation gigs, finishing and hopefully rescue the album. I guess fair-minded playing more. We’ve got load-bearing slots with Chad Valley have a word with The Other Tribe, hopefully graceful few more support slots power come up, or even green paper own tour!
We’re doing Giant Escape too, hopefully. We shall see what 2013 brings us…
